Letting someone play a game on your computer is nothing serious, unless it can affect your saves. It can be quite annoying to see that the progress in a game is lost, because someone else has overwritten existing saves. To avoid situations like this, you can use Game Protector to password protect your games. This simple application can serve many purposes. You can use it to prevent unwelcomed users from playing your games or to force children to focus on their homework instead of playing games.

The application is absolutely free and it can be used on all popular Windows platforms. The installation process does not involve any complex settings and it takes only a few seconds to complete the operation. Game Protector does not ask for too many resources and you don't have to install any prerequisite tools.

Protecting a game can be done almost instantly, on the application's compact user interface. All you have to do is select a game's executable file, type and retype a password and click a button. Additionally, you may tick an option to back up the executable. The application is capable of password-protecting files almost instantly. You can also target an executable's shortcut. The application will lock the shortcut's target, rather than the shortcut itself.

When running a protected game, a small dialog will appear, on which you have to insert your password. Backed up executables are stored in the same folder as the originals. To unprotect an executable, you have to go through the same process, but click a different button. Besides password-protecting a game, you can also disguise your games, by changing the executable's icon. Once you select the file, the application will display a series of alternative icons, on its interface.

Pros

Games can be password protected instantly. The application can also back up their executables. Additionally, you can change an executable's icon, to disguise your game.

Cons

There are no serious issues to address. With Game Protector, you can make your games inaccessible to unauthorized users, with only a few clicks.
